Post by 67plexi »

b+2 = 301 volts, b3 = 102 volts, b4 = 5.22 volts, b5 = 5.02 volts.
sounds like a 5 watt amp. rectifier 314 volts all resistors test good.
bias seems hot,

please help best regards 67plexi.

All resistors "test good" but are they the correct values? Are these voltages with tubes in?

Your amp sounds like 5 watts because your preamp is almost off - you're missing 100+ volts to B4 and B5.

I fixed it on the preamp board some solder flux was shorting out v-2
Also static from the .47pf cap I briged a .0022uf over it and ran a.1uf from the 3rd lug on the second pot to ground, replaced the 4300 output transformer with a 5200 and I must say the lows and midrange are fat now and it sings. Thank you for the reply :D

67plexi - Were you first or was 67_Plexi first? I can only hope I don't get you two confused.... Oh well.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

Sorry about the logos. But ken told me I could build them if I did not sell
Ken also said what can you show me? Now I have a booster that will make any tube amp sound like a wreck If ken was still with us I would send him one. Also I have some new mods for kens amps my best buddy worked for NASA as a electonic designer and wrote the programs for fighter jets and subs. so when I do the mods he lets me know how it works and why. I was in the US navy 30 years ago and was a ET tech
I got into tube amp repair no one in my town could fix anything proper
Im the guitar player for the Hiltons and all the best players freak out on my guitar tone. Regards Steve.
