Here's a little clip I threw together this morning, improvised for the most part so don't be too harsh. You can hear some of the rhythm tones toward the end of the song when the distorted guitar comes in. Guitars were recorded with just guitar-cord-amp, a little verb added in the mixdown. Credit due to whoever made the backing, I found it on the net labeled as "jims mellow jam"
Amp started out as an Express clone and has evolved over the months. Now has sockets added to run either octals or cathode biased el84's(along with switchable PI tail resistor), a post PI master and a cut. Preamp layout is slightly different also as I have the input tube paralleled, just couldn't let half a tube sit there unused. The outputs were Russian military 7189 types.

Very nice dude! The amp has a nice midrange honk/bite to it. I enjoyed the legato stuff at the end of the clip, nice flow of notes: you can hear the musicality of the amp. I would also enjoy seeing gut and overall shots if you can post them. Sounds very nice, good work.
I like it too TK. Mic? Speaker? Guitar? any chance of hearing the clip without the processing, just the nakid track?

Thanks to all for the kind comments. As requested here's a few pics, she ain't real pretty. Amp is a junkyard dog, built with parts I had in the junk box and a salvaged set of trannys, then was modded several times so the wiring is sloppy in spots, need to tidy up. Still need to make some faceplates too.
Recording set was a MXL 990 condenser, M-audio preamp, into my laptop soundcard, recorded with Cool Edit Pro. Cabinet is a very oversized 2x12 with Warehouse Guitar Speakers Verteran 30 in the top and a Celestion G12-K in the bottom, the Celestion was close miced for the track. Guitar is a Dean import Hardtail(mahogany body/maple cap mahogany neck) with a Duncan Custom Custom in the bridge and a 59 in the neck.
To answer the other question, no compression on the guitar tracks. Final mix was normalized so there probably is some amount of compression there. Only added some verb to the guitar to help them sit in the mix with the backing track.

yep, I built the 2x12 and the head cab too. I am extremely happy with how the cab sounds. I had loosely followed the design of a Boogie 2x12 I used to own but I like mine even more than the Boogie, has better midrange definition.

Great job! There is a lot to be said for the satisfaction in bushwacking and cobbling together such a nice amp from a junker and/or parts bin. Environmental recycling at it's best! Exemplary!
I am curious about how much of a difference the paralleled input stage makes to the sound. (I too feel it is a shame to leave that half sitting there idle...) Does it promote sustain or thicken the mids?
Does your el84 output configuration have an edgy fizzle, often mentioned in a lot of comments?
