Final build diagram with all changes

Re: Final build diagram with all changes
The schematics all seem to show that bottom lug connected to the wiper, and the cap between there and ground. So, I should connect the cap btween the wiper and ground and disconnect the bottom lug, while the top lug is connected to a resistor and then to ground?
Sorry if I seem dense. The information trickles in to my understanding slower than it seems to evolve.

Exactly. 390ohm to ground. 1uf to ground from middle lug. Do not under any circumstances connect the presence pot itself directly to ground.

Re: Final build diagram with all changes
At the risk of being accused of beating a dead horse...
I still don't understand why connecting the wiper and the bottom lug of the presence pot together and then to the cap which goes to ground is electrically different then connecting nothing to the bottom lug. If the bottom lug is not connected to ground why does it matter whether it is tied to the wiper?
... I am a fairly intelligent guy. I took lots of science classes. I did great in most all of them, with the notable exception of the electronics section of my college physics class, about fifteen years ago. By visiting these discussion forums and some hands on trial and error, I have learned a ton of stuff and gained the confidence to attempt things I never expected to be able to do a year and a half ago. However, it seems that the more I know the more I realize I don't know.
Thanks to everyone that patiently educates me in my apprenticeship.

Re: Final build diagram with all changes
The problem was that the 3rd lug was directly connected to ground and not tied to the wiper. The cap should be the only thing grounded. If you also ground the 3rd lug, you have a parallel tail. Make sense?
It is fine to tie the lugs. Just don't ground the pot.

Thank You.
Re: Is this the correct way
Exactly!

Re: Final build diagram with all changes
Is there any advantage or disadvantage to mounting those parts on the pot instead of the board? Or is that just the way you do it in a D-lite for the sake of space (i.e. less on-board components = smaller board)?
Brown Note layout
For myself I simply went by the Brown Note layout. It seem to fit in there nicely.

Re: Final build diagram with all changes
I did not realize this until after doing the #40 layout, but the D'lite board is almost identical to those early 70s boards. Those amps had the presence switch ("Accent"), and did not have all the components for this circuit on the main board.benoit wrote:Is there any advantage or disadvantage to mounting those parts on the pot instead of the board?
