Hey, Icetech
Please forgive me for asking this- but since the PM function doesn't seem to work here on my end, I thought I'd try asking this here. Icetech, I notice that you're in Detroit- I'm N. of Ann Arbor. Would it be possible to hear some of your projects? The Dumble thingy has fascinated me since I'm a Ford/Carlton fan. No electronics experience here- just a guitarist chasing the tone. Please contact me if it's at all possible to hear what you have going.

Re: Hey, Icetech
I wouldn't have a problem with that.. im up in macomb 25+romeo plank area...
To be honest though, my projects kinda suck:) I get them working "OK" but i can't extract the magic that the guys like dogears do....

Re: Hey, Icetech
Jeeeeeeezus--25 & Romeo Plank- different time zone? I see 15 mile & Van Dyke when I see the inlaws. That's 65 or so miles from me. Does anyone in the area ever do one of those "amp fests" or whatever they're called? Let me know. Perhaps we can link up soon--I'd like hear how these "experiments of desire" sound. You call it. I'll work around you.

Re: Hey, Icetech
15+VD is only bout 10 miles from me... VD is bout 4 miles west of romeo plank... i grew up at 8mile+vd...
Anyway.. i work 60 hours a week.. im off this weekend or nights.... just lemme know when your in the area.... If you are into the ford/carlton thing then you will love these.. im more into the Sabbath/blues thing.. but you can get those tones also.. the amps really will do whatever the player wants.. its kinda of amazing, crank up the OD.. and your george lynch, Switch to clean and your chet atkins, crank up the clean and your buddy guy...
If you arn't electrically inclined i believe some of the guys here sell complete heads for a ok price... well worth it, since i built mine i havn't touched another amp....
P.S. my amp wont get that pretty smooth OD like dogears does... mine is a bit more raw.. one day i will learn to tweak:)

Re: Hey, Icetech
I'll contact you when I'm heading in that direction-- buying a head is not in the picture right now-- but thanks for the info. I'm using a BassmanLTD or a 64 Fender Concert (head) right now. Sometimes they hit the Ford thing--other times??? The Zendrive seems to help, though. But it's never consistent. I'll be in touch.

Please tell us more about the Zendrive-you like??

Re: Hey, Icetech
Oh, yeah- I like it. It seems much "warmer" than, say, a Tube Screamer. I don't really understand or know what some of the terms a lot of guys use when describing effects, amps, etc. You know--hissy, fizzy, dark, etc. All I know is that the Zen is different than anything I've used. Wonderful little pedal. Dumble in a box? Jeeeze, don't know 'bout that. Never tried a Dumble, Fuchs, Two Rock, or any of the more desirable boutique offerings to know how they respond to playing/touch. If you get a chance to try one definitely do.
You guys on this forum sound really dedicated to tone-age. I'd like to have the knowledge/ability to attempt building something-then tweaking it to taste.
Some of the tones on the clips had me drooling. That dogears guys is in deep.

Re: Hey, Icetech
Still waiting for dogears to post a layout of what his "Best" dumble would be:)
Re: Hey, Icetech
All in good time.... Basically though, Hybrid A is a good starting point with maybe a half dozen tweaks.
On the other hand, I am really digging my HRM! So, my optimum would be the Glaswerks SOD50 since it does both voices! And really well
Unfortunately, I can't post the schematic as Gary is building them for people....
