Highly Atipical Dumble use and sample inside!!!

Post by massygt6 »

Hi,
warning, unbelievers and faint hearted, please stop here
HIGHLY ATIPICAL DUMBLE USE WARNING!!!
It's a 100version, custom wired form Nik when the 100w version was not even available, customized with trannies wounded on my specs here in Italy...
What you are going to listen is a HIGHLY ATIPICAL use for this amp, but I SWEAR YOU on what I've got of most treasurable and loved that is STRICTLY an overtone without any booster in front.
Only and I repeat, ONLY a Boss Ge7 in loop, use to replicate the classic "V" eq seen on most mesa mark amp...
it's ALL the amp's gain and an ibanez rg1527 with a EVO7 pickup in the bridge...
I know that its hard to believe, but it's true...
here's the link
http://media.putfile.com/music-12-54
http://rapidshare.com/files/124758543/C ... n.mp3.html
I'm not here to publicize Nik'a amps (even if they're fantastic and worth every penny) but to pay the right tribute to this fantastic amp design...there's nothing you can't do with it, if you know how to achieve it...

Man, That's not blues or Robben Ford 8)

No seriously, it sounds great - not my kind of music - but a perfect Mesa Rectifier sound. Impressive.

thanks man...I cannot believe to my own ears when I putted the EQ in the loop for the first time...
some details...
power amp has EL34
pab on
deep off
jazz mode
bright off
master on 9 o'clock
volume and gain (level) full blown!!
ratio on 12 o'clock
internal trimmer on 12 o'clock
typical V shape EQ on the boss Ge7, in the loop obviously...
mesa 2x12 cab with v30s, closed back
on the solo, it's a PRS CE22 maple top with duncans 59 and custom

Atypical.. Yes.
Awesome.. Yes!

Was the EQ used in the second half of the song? That tone seems typical of a dumble to me.

It's very possible you could modify the dumble tone control to get more scoop out of the amp and not the effect.

Same EQ as the first part!
The difference was the guitar...the solo is recorded with a PRS CE22 MapleTop, has a lot of presence and cut...the feeling is there, the eq is pretty different than the usual "dumble type" and is achieved with a ge7 in the loop...think of the classical V shape eq seen a million time on mesa mark amplifiers...

I'm an old metalhead. That's Dream Theater that's being played...I was (and still am) a big fan of theirs...absolutely monster musicians. But it's an acquired taste.

That's a pretty cool tone. Obviously the drop tuning adds a little 'something'. I've got a GE-7...might have to give it a whirl.

John Petrucci (guitar player for Dream Theater) has always used Mesa as far as I know.

John is a long time Mesa user, Mark and Rectifiers amps...the ODS is pretty similar to a MarkI ;-) with an eq in the loop is even more similar...give it a try!
jazz mode and PAB on  rock has too much bass, deep on or off depends on what you're looking for...

mind you, ODS is similar to Mark II, III & IV, which have OD after tone controls, but not Mark I which has OD before the the tone controls.

Nice rhythm tone! It fit the music and I dig it.

Your custom trannies similar to Marshall iron?

Bravo! I always thought a Dumble could cover it all, except that sound. Obviously it can even do that too. Makes me want to try it with mine!

Hi!
Great tones! I'm a big time DT fan, too....
Yes, a Dumble can do it all! I had exactly that same setup for my DumbleClone and was able to recreate tones from AWAKE and IMAGES AND WORDS easily.

This was recorded in jazz mode?
Maybe we should find a new name for that switch.
BTW - I like it, thanks for posting.

yes, the power iron is a custom one, and so the choke filter, the output iron is an hammond guitar series 1750U, plexi and jmp replacement.
