I own Try and Continuum and I like both of them. I've seen him twice in concert and he's ran at least one Dumble at each of the shows. Plus his Two-Rocks... I've been a fan since the trio album... his other more poppy songs are good, but not my cup 'o tea...

Don't get me wrong, I really do like John Mayer, I own Room for squares, try, and continum, I just thought that Room for squares was better listening.
I hear you. But do you know that he's not trying to do something about it, too? I think he does still do a fair amount of charity stuff.

I'd love to get into a philosophical/rhetorical discussion about music, the purpose of it, the responsibility of art, etc., but clearly this ain't the forum or the media for that. Anyone who wants to do so is welcome at my place, and the beverages and snacks are my treat. (PDX area) I want to be better as an artist, and "iron sharpens iron."

So, back on topic, I think he has 3 or 4 Overdrive Specials and a SSS.

I know he has at least 2 ODS's and one is HRM because there is a picture of the guts in the tone quest report.

Buschman wrote:Sorry guys, I think Continuun is his best yet. It had great songs & wasn't SRV at all to me. Waiting for the World to Change was way more Marvin Gaye than SRV. Good Love is on the Way, Gravity, and Vultures are all great in my book. I think he is young & growing and will be with us a long time.

In the continuum booklet is a picture of a recording setup and it has 3 ods in it. On the Trio tour he used an overdrive reverb a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThwApe2_R9o

OK-You are correct Larry, more Curtis Mayfield than SRV or Marvin Gaye.

I would prefer JM stops singing, i lvoe his guitar work.. but the singing ruins songs for me... if you can say enough with the guitar you don't need lyrics on top of it:)

+1
His singing doesn't do anything for me as well.
Of course I have the same opinion about EJ too. :D

I have always assumed it was a tube preamp (preamp of the ODS), built in a package somewhat like the dmblator. Same Xformer etc. IIRC, there were pics on the net somewhere showing the back, I think there is a (5-pin XLR) footswitch jack.

That's SSS #002 I believe it's a 100W instead of a 150W.
