What is a good brand/type of Function Generator?

I know there was some discusssion of this recently on the board, but I can't seem to find it with any searches I've done. Based upon Gary's method for breaking in a speaker I'd like a sweep built in.

Tektronix? HP? B&K? I figure I can use a dial selector just as well as digital, but as far as reliability does it pay to get newer?

Any help, as always is appreciated.

Have a great weekend.

Ebay has a lot of them. All the brands you mentioned are good. I have an HP. I bid on about 20 of them and they went for outrageous prices. I found a great one that ended during the middle of the day and got it for $45.00. I guess that policy on not using company computers that people have to live by really paid off for me!

I don't know how great they are but there was a tenma going for 45ish that would probably do fine for guitar amp work.

yeah I was looking at those and the Wavetechs.

I was also looking at the B&K's with sweep and the old dials. I was thinking I'd be better off with B&K as it was a name I recognize.

In checking out the listings its seems a lot weren't functioning and even more were untested. I was thinking a known brand like those I listed would be less of a gamble.

Thanks guys.

BTW Allyn congrates on the transfer, if I didn't know better I would have even suspected anything changed. Keep up the good work here and with your excellent amps and chassis and thanks.

For those of us who found your comments to represent a stable personality already, this is hard to imagine.

To the OP, I should also mention, I've never met anything that my pair of HP-200CDs couldn't deal with. Fix em myself, too.
