If you ever use a guitar that sounds muddy, try some EL84s in place of the Ruskies Military units. It'll brighten right up and add chime.

Hey guys thanks for the comments.
I'm not a fan of V30's. But I didn't know that when I built the cabinet. I had heard them in a TopHat and thought it was wonderful.
I still like TopHats.
I'm looking at an Avatar 4x12...2 Greenbacks and 2 G12-H30's.
Also... I have previously, but do not currently, play in a band. I do intend on making songs and distributing music......later. However, what's getting in my way right now is a real job that's paying for the equipment. Anyone in NWA wanna demo an amp and jam?

That Avatar cab and combo of speakers will be a better match for that amp. V30s can sound good with a dark amp, but with anything bright, it'll accentuate the brutal upper mids and highs of the V30.
Eardrums!!! We don't need no stinkin' eardrums!

I've been wearing ear plugs...with the volume at 1 oclock my strat will randomly oscillate/feedback if I'm within 6 feet or so.
It has also shown me that many of my guitars are in desperate need of grounding work.

Yep, I had to pot the pickups in any of my guitars I use with my Wrecks. Even pickups that were "factory potted" had to be done again with a more thorough dipping. Two cords (or 40' of wire) helps though, as that takes a little top off right there.

That's something to think about.geetarpicker wrote:Yep, I had to pot the pickups in any of my guitars I use with my Wrecks. Even pickups that were "factory potted" had to be done again with a more thorough dipping. Two cords (or 40' of wire) helps though, as that takes a little top off right there.
If you don't mind my asking, how long is your *speaker* cable?
I assume you mean guitar cable is 40ft.
also, if you have guitar volume all the way up, at what level does distortion start? Is it distorted right off idle?
Thanks
