Thanks Dana, well you are my mentor so I am just following your footsteps….After all, everything that I know about amps I learned it from you and from a whole bunch of very knowledgeable, top builders that the industry has to offer….So I guess I’ve been under the wing of the very best… :D

About the amp, like Dana said, THIS IS NOT A KIT, I had to do a list on my own of the parts needed, including finding the darn Panasonic caps (which BTW I was surprised, thought they might sound like crap but they don’t). Like I said the only difference here from the Rocket is the placement of the cap and resistor. But if this pic helps those who are trying to build a Rocket, for sanity sake, just place the resistor and cap on the other side of the EL84 and voila. :D

Ok, not the best clips because I don't have the gear to record them. I record them using a comp mic and the sound recorder on my comp. Cab is a Bob Burt custom 2x12 with 102 003 pre-rolas 25W greenbacks. Guitar the most POS guitar ever invented hohner professional w/ stock pup, broken neck and faulty pup selector sw.....

Controls the clean clip all controls (except the cut) at 12 o'clock
Dirty, stack at 12 o'clock, vol at 2 o'clock. Guitar vol to the max on both....

Sounds good! If you can make POS guitar sound good you've done well. I remember a story I heard about Joe Walsh when referring to a guitar amp/pedal/etc....he said if it was 'Rickenbacker friendly' then it must be a good amp.

Carlos

Thanks for posting those. 8) They sound great! Now I need to go back and try changing a few things on my Rocket and see if I am in the same ballpark as yours.

Thanks Dana, they are not the best clips but it will give an idea on how it sounds. The cleans are good and the breakup is nice and uniform (if that makes sense). Definitely not a heavy distortion amp but nice for low gain sounds....

What's the skinny on the Panasonics. Is that a KF thing. What do they add to the mix.

Ditto! Really sounds the goods, and given the recording setup, must sound terrific live!

Carlos - How much capacitance is being applied at PS node 1 (looks like it could be 2 x 47uF) and which rectifier are you using?

Is there any other makes available besides JJ & Sovteks? Which is regarded as more robust?

Maybe the Sarge is the "go to" man in the rectifier stakes?

47uf, the rectifier is another Sgt OD special.... You could also try GEs. I think Dana have those on his amps and he says it sounds great. I liked the Sgt's tubes, they sound very good.
