In my last build, I ran two wires to each tube for heaters. That way they don't need to be very thick, but with many tubes, there are quite alot of wires. What I liked about it is that I don't have to solder two wires to the heater-lugs on the tube socket..

Matchless, among others, do it that way too.

strippers

Post by dobbhill »

I was wondering what type strippers you guys (esp. Allynmey) use on the solid core Teflon wire. I always seem to nick the conductor, making it prone to breakage if bent at the "notch."
Thanks for your guidance.

I'm not sure, but run a penknife around the tubing and it should strip better than wire strippers - I've seen a pros doing that. It's quicker than wire strippers ....

Tell me how it goes. I'm still using cloth type.

Need to revive this one myself. I got some of the teflon-coated silver tinned solid core from Apex Jr, and am having a hard time stripping it.

Is there a particular brand that anyone can recommend for a good teflon stripper (preferably autostripping)? RS and Home Depot stock don't cut it.

What I use on my Teflon wire is the simple, cheap "adjustable" stripper from Radio Shack. The strip size is set via a set screw/nut. I set it for 22g wire, and use a lighter touch on the 20g.

I'd LOVE to find some affordable 18g Teflon solid wire.

Really, it's SO nice to not worry so much about the soldering iron hitting the heater wires.

Great quality pots as well! If there good enough to go in a B-52 bomber they are good enough for my amps!

Norm

Thanks a million for bringing this up. am getting really low and didn't make a note of where I got the stuff. For the price, the service and quality, I don't know how they can be beat.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot- Has anyone used the "Belden House no. 2 cond." shielded 22g pvc? I found it in their "also available" section. If it's any good, it would be nice for hookup on the signal path.
