As a very new builder I have had a great time with the dlite and dumbleator builds. I would like to try my hand at another build. I need to keep it with a master volume and would like to make as much of it as possible, including the boards and chassis. I would love to get some recommendations from experienced builders as to what would be another classic to go for. I mostly play blues and rock.

Find a good donar amp, gut it and do another D'lite type build except this time do something different like 100k plates, or HRM. or Bluesmaster with either reverb or the loop built in or both. I know of one in your town you could copy

You really need to step over to the wreck side just for fun. You don't get a master volume, (not well anyway) but some guys are powerscaleing (with master volume to compensate for earlier breakup) and getting some apparent versatility. It's an amazing sound.angelodp wrote:As a very new builder I have had a great time with the dlite and dumbleator builds. I would like to try my hand at another build. Pretty near the top of the list has to be a 5F6-A variant. I just made a use-the-parts-laying-around cross between a Marshall JTM45 and a '59 Bassman. Oil in paper caps, tube rectifier, KT66's. Great amp! A lot easier than a "D", by the way. Plus, for all the Strat concerns on the Dumble site, this rig definately likes them
One advantage here is if your first build was a head, you can probably use the same speaker cabinet.
