Tranny upgrade for Ceriatone?

Any suggestions on what transformer(s) I should use to upgrade my Overtone? Will just an OT suffice? I'm totally new to amp mods, so please forgive my ignorance.

upgrade for the OT is the 018343 used for Fender amps.I would
also change the choke to a 125C1A/022699 also used for Fender
amps.

I've done a 100w version starting from nik's kit.
The PT is custom wind by a local shop, 360-0-60-360@450mA, 6,3V 8A, 6,3V 2A and the OT it's an Hammond Guitar Series, model 1750U, a replacement for Marshall JCM and JMP serie, 1750ohms primary, 4,8 and 16 ohm secondaries.

Sounds very good, huge bass response, massive and extremely well built.

thanks Massygt6. I wonder if the Hammond/Marshall for the JCM 800 50 watt version would also work well in a stock Overtone. I've heard good things about the Hammond iron. I'm weighing the Fender unit mentioned above against some of these other options including the MM Radio Spares unit. I have to confess that I don't even know that the stock unit is not fine. I just want the best sound that i can get out of this. It's good to hear from those who have tried other iron in their Overtones.

my choice for the hammond iron was guided by some points:

1) wanted to build an HRM version with EL34 output section
2) need for multiple secondary option instead of the single 4ohm out of the fender twin iron
3)was available with ease at a fair reasonable price

I've upgraded the Overtone to HRM, EL34 output but I'm coming back to NON-HRM 6L6 for the sweet liquid feel it has.
And this iron suits well also 6L6, currently I'm using all Tung-Sol, preamps and Output...
The stock Overtone irons are fine IMHO...but experimenting new solutions is funny

My 100w version is also loosely based on Niki's kit also. I wound up going with Hammond Twin replacements. Mine does not seem to sound like a standard Ceriatone Overtone and I think it is because the OT and speaker. My power supply is different, but I dont know how much that contributes since the voltages are about the same.

I have an Overtone ordered without trannies, and plan to use a vintage set with a Triad OPT - they were originally in a tabletop amp (I guess to amplify a radio) running 2 EL34s with a GZ34 rectifier. I'll probably have to do a little rearranging as the PT is not a lay down type. I'm harvesting a choke from an old broken Fender PA amp. I'm hoping they'll sound pretty good in there.

what makes you think you need to upgrade the tranny? Nik's looks very well built and has HUGE iron.

After hearing your "mods done" clip, I agree that the upgrade is probably not needed. Truth is, I don't know how to judge a transformer, but I was going on the perhaps misguided assumption that Nik may not have put the best ones in to keep the cost of the amps down (no offense to Nik). One of the guys in this thread seems to believe that he got an improvement by putting the Fender OT in. I'm not sure what to think, but I sure like the sound of your last clip on the C forum!

Agreed. I've had it next to two other D type amps, one with a MM OT and the other with a Fender and the Overtone has a huge sound compared to either, as well as a very good response. The OT sounds (and looks) very good to me. But of course YMMV, as it's just one more variable.

That makes it easy. I'll just leave it alone and concentrate on getting it up to Jacks latest rev. I believe the original ODS's had Fender Twin/Showman transformers.
