Nice tone. It is very Carltonesque. It's funny, I was fine until the other day at the gas station I heard L.C. on some modern Steely Dan tune and rememberd why I built this amp. I thought "rats! THAT is the tone I'm trying to get" and was reminded I'm not there yet.stelligan wrote:Mark,
I still like that Delta Pro speaker a lot for cleans, and the price is way right. It is just a bit sterile like you say, but Normster has been using one for awhile now and may have more hours on it. There is a Tele + HRM clip here that sounds darned nice:

Kinda Carltonesque & cool. Maybe he will chime in on any changes that speaker has made over time.
On the sound clip with the Celestion, toward the end when you have OD and PAB on you were doing some single note riffs -- that's ONE of the tones I'm looking for and can't quite get. You must have had your guitar on the bridge pickup and are playing toward the lower string. I hear lots of this kind of thing on the mp3's Normster published with the stock D'Lite 22, as well as some of the Youtube clips. The other thing I'm trying to get is that L.C. solo tone where it's just slightly at breakup, but when he digs into the strings the notes overdrive and really jump out. Very dynamic. How's that for trying to describe a sound with words (LOL).
Anyway... the quest continues.
Mark.
