reverb and dlator
has anyone ever built a dlator and reverb in the same box (but separate from the amp)?
If so, would you wire the reverb so it is after the effects loop or before? Perhaps provide a way to loop it in via jacks?
Just wondering since I was considering building a dlator that it might be worth putting it all together.
Thanks,
Rut

Re: reverb and dlator
I believe Glassman build a "Reverb-a-Loop" at one time. Search the files section and see if it's still there.

Take a close look at the schematic. The 220K mix resistor for the reverb shunts across the dlator jacks. Any effects inserted would be in parallel with the signal path.
You could patch the reverb on the output side.

As an alternate you could do something like this:

heisthl,
Is there an error in that schematic? Would B1 go to the reverb transformer?

Re: reverb and dlator
There are two potential problems with this implementation.heisthl wrote:As an alternate you could do something like this:
I modified the drawing to illustrate the issue.
The 220K reverb mix shunts across the dlator. This creates a couple of problems.
1. The Input signal is being mixed with the output signal and they are 180 degrees out of phase. This would be very noticable as you rotate the return control.
2. THe reverb is returned in parallel with any effects applied. (My original design had the same issue)
The circled resistor is redrawn at it location in the dlator section to clarify what I see.

Re: reverb and dlator
Glasman,
Are you saying you shouldn't put the reverb in parallel with the loop signal as in your schematic https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... everb+loop ?
What changes would you make as I am considering buiding this ckt?
Thanks,
Rut

Re: reverb and dlator
At this point in time I would mix the reverb in after the return control of the dlator.rutledj wrote:Glasman,

Henry's circuit is better adapted for that usage. Simply take his REverb section input point and connect it to the dlator output and then feed the PI from the Reverb output. Now you are mixing the reverb in across a 220K resistor and any effects that are inserted in the loop will also pass through the reverb.
The double recovery stage of the prosonic style reverb should provide ample reverb umph.
The drawing illustrates the better approach, to me at least.

Oops. Forgot to eliminate the word "in". could have been confusing.

Re: reverb and dlator
You guys are so picky, you want it to work?

I redrew this before I read all the posts, I did correct the B+1 tag, the tank output shunt resistor and a bypass cap that didn't belong in the second recovery stage - the 2 sections were meant to be seriesed in what ever order you would want. Personally I like reverb last. The phasing problem is corrected by reversing the transformer leads(as shown in this schematic).

AHHHHHHHHHH,
It kinda looked like you wanted the gozINtas and the gozOUTas tied in parallel. Now you understand my kornfuzion...

Re: reverb and dlator
Ods build in progress and if successfully completed may also go this route please keep us posted with progress and pics. Good luck!!rutledj wrote:has anyone ever built a dlator and reverb in the same box (but separate from the amp)?

Re: reverb and dlator
Great. So let me ask one more question. Suppose you didn't want any reverb. I don't see a bypass method? Would it be as easy as adding a switch after the return level pot to go to reverb or straight out?
Or is there a "built in" pass through via the 220k resistor?
Also, would this run cool enough that you could build it in a 1 or 2U high rack enclosure with the tubes, tank, and xformer also in the enclosure?
