Call for help: the new Amp Garage wiki needs content!!!

Post by Omar »

With the number of new members that have joined recently, I thought it would be a good time to give a wiki another try. The old wiki had some issues and frankly not much content was added. Hopefully things will be different this time around.

For those of you not familiar with a wiki, here is a definition from Wikipedia:
A wiki is software that allows users to easily create, edit, and link pages together. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites.
What I envision for the Amp Garage wiki is that those with lots of knowledge can do a brain dump on the wiki and we can avoid the same questions being asked over and over. This can be a big help for new members as well as makiing it easier to find infomation.

You can use your Amp Garage user name and password to log on and edit pages. You do not need to register

I have created a "Current Projects Pages" section on the main page. Currently, these are the only pages on the wiki and they are need of content. I created these during my testing. Both the "Trainwreck Circuits" and "Trainwreck:Tweaking Guide" pages need help. :D

The wiki is in what I would consider a "just out of alpha" beta stage so please let me know about any bugs. Also, please provide any feedback so I can get an idea for how the wiki is working for you.

Here is the address:

http://ampgarage.com/wiki

Thanks,
Omar

Hey, this is a great idea.
I'm so looking forward to the comments for the Trainwreck:Tweaking Guide.

I'll be glad to help test. If anyone sees "testing, please ignore" briefly, that would be me. :D

(note that I'll not be adding content, but you'll see some saved edits in history)

Omar, great idea!

Over the last few months I've pieced together my own personal trainwreck building & tweaking documents. All of the information was gathered from different threads in The Amp Garage's Trainwreck forum.

Bearing in mind that most of the content is not of my own creation, I'd be happy to load this content into the wiki to get things started. I don't want to take credit from those who originally posted the questions & answers, which is why I want to get some opinions before I go ahead.

Let me know what you guys think.

Noah,
Absolutely, please go ahead and post the infomation you have gathered. That is exactly the kind of content that I think should be in the wiki.

Thanks,
Omar

Ok guys, I'm really trying to push this wiki forward!

I changed the "Trainwreck:Tweaking Guide" to "Trainwreck:Express Building and Tweaking Guide." This will make it more focused to Express amps instead of Trainwrecks in general.

I added some info in the "History" section and put some placeholder info in the "Parts" section. Hopefully, you guys will take the bait the update the Parts section since my info is off the top of my head and probably not right. :D

Could you create a shell (or whatever it's called) for cross-referencing opinions on the ever-growing Eminence line. It's hard to keep track of which model is supposed to be like a Celestion G12H or a JBL or...you know. Eloquent, huh? Some of the guys here have done an amazing amount of testing and research, but it's all spread out in threads for Dumble and Trainwreck.

All you have to do is use your same login that you use for ampgarage. The link to the login page is in the upper right corner of the main wiki page; it's kind of easy to miss.

http://ampgarage.com/wiki/Main_Page

Once logged in click on the section you want to work on, then click on the "Edit" link at the top of the page and start editing/adding to the page.

You need to upload the files. Instructions are on the main page near the bottom. Let me know if you have any issues.

Thanks,
Omar
