Sources for 9K1 resistor in Europe?

Post by Bernardduur »

Hey all!

I have some trouble finding 9K1 resistors for my recent Trainwreck build; all my usual sources don't stock em or don't know where to get em

Any sources around the Netherlands?

Have you tried RS Components, Farnell or Maplin in the UK ?

Alternatively, I'd be more than happy to send you some from the US.

EDIT: Using 10K's is fine to. I have seen one real Express that used 10K's in place of the 9.1Ks.

Regards, Alan.

Farnell is the only place I can find em but they charge rediculous prices for shipping and handling.......

25 euro's for an envelope with 4 resistors????

Thanks!

You'd think the 10's make a difference in sound? 10's are more available here :)

The amp that had the 10Ks was a lovely sounding Express. One of the nicest I've heard. Very gainy, but softer feeling.....if that makes sense.
That was probably more to do with the age and the tubing than the PS network resistors though.

That change alone doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Still the offers there if you want some 9.1Ks.

You can get Kiwames for €1 a piece here: http://www.absolute-shop.de/index.php?a ... &cid=7&p=8

Or you can put two 18K resistors in parallel...

I usually keep the wattage rating the same as in the schematics and such; and they call for 3W versions........

In power sections I usually want to be safe :)

They've also got the 5 Watt version, alas for €2 a piece. Anyway...parallel two 18K/2W ones. You shouldn't have any problems finding these.
