That amp is very smooth sounding throughout the range. It has sort of an Oboe or other woodwind quality about the sound when you get down in the lower registers, something that sets it apart from some other clones. I really like that. I just got through playing my own rig really loudly so I hesistate to comment on the high end. It seems a bit understated at the moment, not muddy, just mellow. I will listen again after my ears recover. The build quality is stunning! LC has got to be lovin' this amp!

Very good discription. I was gonna say "pure". The oboe is considered to be the purist tone available in an orchestra, which is why the oboe plays the tuning note.
Very cool Scott, and excellent playing as always. Have you ever hit a bad note?

Here are pics. The recording is not how the controls are in the pics, fwiw. The amp is ridiculous. Amazing texture in lows and mids. Really sings!
Great playing as usual, Scott, very cool clip. I am not surprised people are digging this... To me, all along, this is what a Dumble clone is supposed to sound like. Long live the non HRMs!

One would think, one, except... LC took an HRM amp, if I heard Brandon correctly - which I know I did.

Score one for the HRM lovers, I guess, but I tell ya this clip is making me want to build a non-HRM. I take it PAB would put this amp in some pretty dark territory no?

As well you should, Tone!
I can't answer your question for Scott, but an educated guess is that, on the contrary, if Scott dials the amp that way for the tone on the recording, the PAB will make the amp sound brighter, honkier and bass-less. I set my non HRMs different: treble at 12 o'clock, midrange at 11 and bass at 10. Set that way, a Skyliner will sound similar as it would with the PAB on.. so to me the transition between OD w/o PAB and OD w/PAB is pretty seamless tonewise. But, I play in a large band and don't like a lot of bottom end to my sound. If you go for the super fat sound, non HRM + PAB = not ideal, most likely.

Interesting discussion.
I've been using the PAB to help cut through the mix. Setup the tones like Scott does, then hitting the PAB will kick up the volume a hair. It becomes brighter, plus some of the bottom drops out so the lower register cuts better. I seldom take the OD off, I just roll the volume pedal back a bit and it cleans up enough for most stuff.
Sounds great, Scott! You've got me thinking there's a non-HRM in my future. No crank that thing up!!! (I don't care what anyone says, 100 watt Dumbles don't really start to cook until the master is close to noon. )
