reminder: do not trust color codes
Just started rebuilding a filmosound amp. I generally gut the whole thing, remove transformers, clean, then reinstall. I don't always pay too much attention when clipping things out and i've rebuilt a ton of various filmosounds at this point so usually no surprises. When reinstalling the power transformer I noticed the HT winding had two red/yellow and one red wire. Would have assumed this meant red center tap, turned out to be one red/yellow for the CT and one red/yellow that was supposed to be solid red. Glad my paranoia was louder than my overconfidence and I checked before wiring it up...

Re: reminder: do not trust color codes
Thank you for the heads up and thank you for reinforcing my disdain towards filmosound amps . I swore off of them a long time ago. Total PITA as far as I am concerned. They are a rats nest shoehorned into a tiny box. Gutting them and starting over is a good idea. What circuit to you go with upon rebuild? 5E3 ish? And more importantly, why filmosound? If you are going to gut it and start over I could think of better ways. No insults, I am am just curious. In my hay day I would gut Hammond AO-35 amps and turn them into Lite II b with much success. Made my own boards etc. All I kept was the chassis and the iron.

No special affinity, aside from thinking the faceplate looks cool and the iron is decent. People keep asking me to work on these, so I keep doing it. I've done a lot of hammond rebuilds as well.. I'm usually doing something very roughly 5e3/6g2ish. More of a ratsnest than I would like, but much better than it was...
