Outside dimensions: 28" X 21" X 12.25". I think most of the real things were constructed of high quality 3/4" plywood (as opposed to solid pine etc.).

Was the baffle 3/4" in the real thing too?

Front and rear baffles are 3/4" as far as I know.

Re: Dimension cab 2x12
If it was mahogany ply it was simply a veneer. I think birch is better personally-

Is the regular 3/4" Birch plywood from Home Depot/Lowes/Menards, what most guys use?
I see some cab makers pitching zero void baltic birch. I am not trying to comment on them. Just trying to get a sense what most of the builders here use and what is practical.
I don't want to start specifications on a graphite/titanium cabinet with unobtainium fibers filling it.
Just if standard retail grade is worth pursuing or if I need to go to a specialty wood supplier for a higher grade.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Dimension cab 2x12
Use voidless, it will avoid strange rattles and resonances. I really prefer the Baltic or russian birch 13 ply, but a more industrial 5-7 ply will work.

Thanks Funk I suspected as much. Another Scot might understand this. I though the zero void was needed. I just hoped I didn't have to pay the associated higher price. I know building one of these style amps is not for the fiscally squeamish.

Re: Dimension cab 2x12
In the '70s, I built a 1 x 12 cabinet to HAD's specification and he insisted on a product called "Lumber Core" in those days. It was like plywood in that it had face and back veneers but instead of sheet product for the interior it used odd widths of solid hardwood boards. I haven't seen it in years and I did a half hearted web search for it recently to no avail. The baffle and back were made of MDF. The lumber core that I found back then was either walnut or oak faced. I bought the oak face for the price.
IIRC the old Altec Lansing Loudspeaker construction pamphlet listed "Lumber Core" as a preferred material also.
I'm not so sure that plywood is the worlds best guitar speaker cab material. But what in the heck do I know, Marshall has done just fine with it. I like pine for the weight consideration. I am not physically capable of loading a Marshall 1960 into my pickup. Two pine 2 x 12s. That's the ticket.
Whatever

Re: Dimension cab 2x12
What would the oval port dimensions be on this? 9x17.75 (adding the difference in cabinet size between 1x12 and 2x12 to the 1x12 port width)?
