Just for fun, I converted my 5F8A CF to a DC CF arrangement and immediately noticed an enormous amount of compression. I like the evenness of volume, but the transient is slammed. This might not make sense, but is it possible to design a DC CF mixer by adding a parallel resistor from the V2B grid to cathode like as in the attached drawing? What values would you recommend? I want to pass the transient but mix the DC CF compression with it. The other obvious question is, Is this overkill and should I just use a pedal?
Thanks,

No surprise I'm thinking about this wrong. OK, so the parallel resistor only bypasses the second triode, so not useful. What about increasing the size of the 10K resistor?
