HRM's Don't always need PAB on when in OD - just depends on what sound you need...
I am using the middle pup although I suspect SRV was on the neck pup. If I had Alnico pups, I would be too but the ceramics have more bottom which swamps out some of that woody sound. I cheated a bit by adding some eq in the loop (but nothing extra on the mix - there is no mix) I boosted 800hz 2db, 1.6k 1 db and cut the overall bass 1db. verb and delay are in the loop also. I think a neck pup version of this clip can be even better but it will take some eq to get it there. BTW it still sounds pretty good even without the loop eq. I should post one like that too...

Same values in the amp as my last clip but 47p across the 470k and cranked on the presence for some edge. OD is on but no boost or mid shift. The amp is at basement rehearsal space volume so a good bit loud.

Thanks for the post tonegeek,

I am getting closer with my Strat. And yes, I can get some good sounds now without the PAB. I ended up jacking up my bass trimmer 30% from where I had it with good result. I will post some later this week. Really love that overdriven tone on the previous thread. This is nice also, though a little upper mid heavy for me. Great character in that amp. Congrats!

Tonegeek is a playah!! Love it....

Sounding great. I had no issues with the tone. It fit the playing and the playing was great. Worked for me.

I was playing that riff on my little SE Wreck combo five minutes before I clicked on this thread! That's a good tone for that guitar and style.

Great tone, but with a sig like "tonegeek" I guess that's to be expected, eh?
I'm with you on the low gain Texas thang for single coils. Fat and edgy at the same time. I love it!!!

Fantastic tone and playing, again! This tone works for me for this style. Great work.

Like I mentioned in the other thread...it can take some work, but when the D-style amps are cooperating with a Strat its pretty phenomenal.

BTW - I'd like to hear this without the EQ in the loop. :)

I tried it today without the eq and I am thinking yeah, this could work! So I will post the same clip soon without the eq OR delay (can't live without verb tho) :D

That is really weird when you click on that clip link it comes up with the same AG page but if I copy and paste it in the browser your sound clip comes up.
Anybody know why?

BTW, some nice scuttlin' there. I like it.
I'd like to hear what your neck pup sounds like. :D
Tom

Don't let that smoke out!

Yeah! Much better for me without the EQ in the loop. Not that it needed to please me

Dang that amp sounds good with your Strat. I've been working on my Strat tone tirelessly, but with OD + PAB. Again - congrats on your HRM and Strat getting along with each other. I'm so jealous I could die....

you asked for it - heres the neck pup. I rolled the bass off a bit (Nice to have tone controls with no PAB) but it is otherwise the same settings as the middle pup clips. Its the 2/03/08 clip on this page:

http://www.freewebs.com/tonegeek/OD_S1a.htm

I think I prefer the middle pup versions slightly but YMMV...

Sorry, but I refuse to do a bridge pup version so don't ask

Ahh damn you mr. Tonegeek.

I have ONE week of vacation, and now you've helped destine that to build an amp like that.

It never ends.....
