I do not have the notification preference box checked yet, but will do that immediately! Like you Franco, I don’t know all the sites functions. I’ve read your pm’s and will reply there.
Re: Gauging interest for some metal work
It was a bit of a search, but I will now receive an email if you pm me Franco. No more tedious waiting for a reply. Also, you can now directly contact me on my personal email via this forum.

Re: Gauging interest for some metal work
One step forward en two steps back sometimes. Got the first batch of Wonderland/Steel String Special chassis back from the screen printer two weeks ago. Out of 10 chassis only three are useable. On the others the printing is either off centre, smeared, doubled, to thick, to faint or just completely absent. Suffice to say I wasn't exactly lucky about that. Luckily the good chassis already found new homes and all of the boards are perfect! I hope Jazzbass can turn the chassis and boards I sent him into a fine and mighty amp like he always does.
As for The Don and SSS #005. I've picked up 20 newly cut chassis last week. They are near perfect and ready for welding, anodising and printing (at a new screen printer off course).
Now, would there be a market for blue and gold anodised Steel String Singers? Colour options with anodising are literally limitless.

Re: Gauging interest for some metal work
Hi everyone,
I just finished the Head Shell for the SSS chassis built by Rootz (Bas).
It is a time-consuming job but now I can dedicate myself to filling the chassis with components.
Next week I will post a short description of the construction phases of the Head Shell in the hope that it will be useful.

For some reason your DM's are being "held for review" in my inbox for some reason and then disappear. Happy to buy one of these if you're making them available! you can also contact me https://www.thetonegeek.com/contact for DM discussion

Hi Ryan, no idea what held for review means. Might it be that you pm box is full? My reply to you shows as sent and read.
Unfortunately all off the Steel string special chassis that were good have sold out. I’ll be making these available again, but not sure when. The daytime job has been busy the last month. I hope to get some vacation days around Christmas to send the misprinted chassis to the powder coater and my new screen printer.

Hi Franco, that head shell looks stunning again! Really looking forward to your build log.jazzbass wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 9:53 am Hi everyone,

Re: Gauging interest for some metal work
Some excitement this weekend: finished a test and demo build of SSS005. This is a totally different animal compared to the Steel Sting Special. Bright, scooped, thumping lows. Will overdrive nicely with the FET and PAB. The filters work great and make this amp very versatile. This amp just loves strats and even EMG’s sound less compressed and brighter.

Looks fantastic!
Re: Gauging interest for some metal work
i like resistor selection!
roll of unused cables below PT i would cut, this is problably left for future re-use of PT, but better to leave amp complete

Incredible #005 build!
No problem. I'll see if maybe my inbox is full for sure. Thank you and I'll keep an eye out in the future for your chassis. Enjoy your vacation!rootz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 1:49 am Hi Ryan, no idea what held for review means. Might it be that you pm box is full? My reply to you shows as sent and read.

It is possible that new users that fall under the "New Members" role don't have permission to accept PM's yet, and if they don't ever leave that state they don't get them, but also, it may be they 'disappear' because they are finally accepted? Not sure.rccolgan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 5:04 pmFor some reason your DM's are being "held for review" in my inbox for some reason and then disappear. Thanks, Phil! I should have reached out to you first. It was indeed my inbox that was full. Such an amateur move! Re: Gauging interest for some metal work
I had the same issue before Ryan. So that makes two amateurs, right?
Tonight I took the time to use the higher voltage secondaries of the PT of the 005 build. I now have 445V on the plates of the TAD 6V6gt str’s. Adjusted the dripping string accordingly, as well as the bias network. The latter now is at -46V! That should give some nice headroom. The amp became much punchier on the higher voltage. It is also bright and scooped. Very Black face like, but silkier.
There are still some blanks to fill in schematic wise. The anode of V1a is currently at 170V. That is pretty low for a Dumble AFAIK. Maybe something for another thread.
