Anyhow, it sounds ridiculous and it eats tubes and other non-consumables. Might anyone have the link I am thinking of? There was a guy in Texas going all the way to 470R.

Conjunctive in a way but no capacitor (long lost links)
There were a bunch of guys throwing 470R-5k large resistors between the output plates on mostly Marshalls a long time ago and try to google that.

It's not a conjunctive filter. You'd need a capacitor and a plan for that. Isn't this the so-called Cerem Mod? It just makes the tubes see almost nothing and dump current into the transformer. If you think the Matchless Mismatch at 4k is bad for a pair of EL84s, try parallelling 100W 470R between your plates. Tubes always sound their best just before they fail. Plan on OT replacement money instead of school lunches for a while.

I put small (30 ohm) resistors on each plate in 4-tube amps. I had an issue with nastiness on high notes (sounded like marginally going into oscillation on transients), that this fixed right up. Never saw it on a generator and dummy load, but with a guitar and a speaker, quite audible...not much bigger than that value. You see it in some Dynaco and Sunn amps.

Andy, this a resistor from plate to plate, parallel to the OT primary, not the sensible plate load used on the Sunns and Dynacos. This got some play over on Metro Forum probably some ten years ago, trying to make Marshalls sound like Van Halen.FUCHSAUDIO wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 10:49 pm I put small (30 ohm) resistors on each plate in 4-tube amps. What could possibly go wrong?

differential peaks on transients between plates are in kilo-volts so it is easy to predict what will happen

I already have 8k conjunctive filter on the amp I want to melt. Cerrem was the dood. You have a memory like a baby. A tiny baby with a huge notebook and 10 PA's all struggling to write the whole matrix down.. but the future has to read in real-time.. if you continue to note everything the future will fail based on P vs NP because it will take longer than eternity to get the story written but I implore you to include my cheese egg recipe because if it takes an eternity to fathom the grief history of time.. yum! cheese eggs!Colossal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 10:58 pmAndy, this a resistor from plate to plate, parallel to the OT primary, not the sensible plate load used on the Sunns and Dynacos. PS: I'm just going to pull the caps now and let the martyr stretch. On you.

I have an 8k conjunctive filter on this amp right now. The thing I am talking about is bridging the plates with complete idiocy, for fun. I think I can make it work without destroying anythingif I use virtually infinite value caps and no less than 1k5.. but probably more like 2k+ because the lower values have sounded like a 10 ton mouse fight.
