THe 50 watt build guide from Metropoulos ( vailable on Valvestorm ) has one one the board but that file is to large to unload heresluckey wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 5:26 pmHere's a 1987X schematic. I don't see any 33+33µF caps.

Can you post a schematic that shows 33+33µF caps?
No. Here's an example of a cathode biased EL34 amp...Just so I get this right, When you refer to cathode biassed output section you are refering to the option of inserting a resistor between the diodes and the filering ?

I have decided to go ahead with Rictifier conversion. Wil add a transfo to provaide 5v and try a couple tubes until I faind What I want.
Thank you all for your contributions. I is much appreciated.

What speakers are you using? Difference between a celestion H30 and a JBL E120is drastic when it comes to stiffness. Also a Marshall bass Super 100 and lead is drastic. Also presence cap and bright cap make a big difference . There was no bright cap on early Hendrix and Clapton amps. I didn’t look at your schematic so sorry if I’m talking out my ass….

Reduce c3 I think. .001. To 500 to 250p No cap. Rolls off the searing top which slows the top down. No cap in the Hendrix amp.

please don't muck up a perfectly good bassmaster with an additional transformer and hole for the rectifier tube

I'd add, if you should do this and the placement of the tube and transformer is less than optimal, you can end up with a great deal of hum. In addition to it not being worth the effort, it isn't worth the risk.thetragichero wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 6:16 am please don't muck up a perfectly good bassmaster with an additional transformer and hole for the rectifier tube
Re: How to Lossen-up a tif amp ?
Pete Traynor went to significant effort in making your YBA exactly what you've experienced -- i.e., clean "stiff" deep power. It's a bit unrealistic to reverse all that.Phil_S wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 2:57 pmI'd add, if you should do this and the placement of the tube and transformer is less than optimal, you can end up with a great deal of hum. Perhaps we can help if you could point to an existing amp design you'd say has
??

THis amp has already been substatially moded. Tone stack is now Marshall like, V1 cathodes are split and use plexi values, output trnny replaced with Marsahll 50 watt spec ( Mojotone ) 3 way switch for output impedance installed and filtering caps changed from 80UF to 50 UF.I like the tone I now get, just want to loosen-up the feel...
Re: How to Lossen-up a tif amp ?
Actually thie original circuit was close to that of a Marshall to start with...

maybe beyond the scope of this thread but i might be interested in the original hammond that was in there... those were killer transformers!

IN this case, it was a quite small, apperently well constructed tranny. But I will keep it. I may eventually get this thing back to original...
