Re: Nameplates
RiffRaff, are you looking for the Red Head words, right?
I might be able to help you out there. I've recently gained access to a 35 watt laser that does etching and cutting. I've only done faceplates in wood, but I'm working on getting some acrylic and laserable plastics to practice stuff on. I'm pretty sure I can do lettering like the Red Head words.
PM me if your interested. I'm not sure when I'll be able to schedule time on the laser, but I'll work up a logo for myself out of wood, and see how it comes out!

I was hoping LR might chime in here: I have no affiliation whatsoever, but if you haven't seen his face plates, you owe it to yourself to take a look at the Trainwreck forum. Really nice!Lonely Raven wrote:RiffRaff, are you looking for the Red Head words, right?

RedHead
The RedHead headbox is one of mine. Note my name on the faceplate. Not one of my better amps, it's due for a retread. But the logo is indeed nice, and also of my design.
I tried to get a registered trademark on it but Sammy Hagar's copyright lawyers threatened to sue me, even though he never registered the word, never mind the logo. My copyright lawyer advised me it would have cost me $15,000 to fight them thru the US copyright court system, so I gave it up, and now I cannot (nor can anyone else for that matter) use the word RedHead on an amp or cabinet for sale to others. Cost me $800 to find all this out.
Joe Vallina of Amplates.com does good work and is very flexible in helping you get it just right. I just received his latest for me at home, haven't seen it yet as I'm out of town right now. It's for my blues harp amp I'm close to finishing up. I haven't used anyone else for some time now.

I didn't mean I wanted to use the words or the design
I have my own name and design, Just want the same style nameplate
I looked all over his site and could not find any reference
How did you mount your nameplate to the head?
Do you mind me asking what it cost to make your nameplate?

Re: Nameplates
Wow, Amplates is News to me. Thanks for sharing David.
From his materials list it looks like he's using a laser as well.

Re: Nameplates
I believe that BNP Lasers actually does the cutting, Joe just does the design work. He does a first rate buisness, not cheap, but great service.
Re: Nameplates
I've drawn the same conclusion myself, although I haven't seen it explicitly stated. There's definitely some relationship between the two businesses as Jeanne (from BNP) recommends Joe for design work.tkdrew wrote:I believe that BNP Lasers actually does the cutting, Joe just does the design work. BNP Lasers' work is first rate (and Jeanne is great to deal with), and I've heard nothing but praise for Joe's work as well. I do my own artwork so I just go direct rather than through Joe.
Re: Nameplates
I get all of my plexi faceplates from BNP Lasers, and also my aluminum nameplates.
The service has been excellent, and I likely continue working with them indefinitely. However, I have a sneaking feeling that the prices are astronomical. I pay as much for a face plate set for one of my amps as I do for any other single line item on the BOM, including the chassis, either of the transformers, and nearly as much as all of the passives put together. The only things that go into a Revelation amp that cost more than the faceplates is the cabinet and the speaker.

Re: Nameplates
Send me a drawing/template Josh. I'll see what I can do.
I've not invested in any plastics or aluminum yet, but I have a couple hundred dollars of wood stock now thanks to a local lumber yard and Distortion (can't wait to see the flamed maple he's sending my way!!)

When you click on a link it says, "The page you tried to access does not exist on this server."

Re: Nameplates
which links are dead? I need to fix those obviously!!
But some of the web site is kind of a work in progress. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of business I am in.
