Conclusive proof

Post by drew »

You can get to play Robben Ford’s Les Paul through Robben Ford’s Dumble, and still sound like a kid in a guitar store making musically uninteresting guitar noises.

I laughed too hard at this after I heard him start playing... it's like two different planets of skill level...

now I sound worse than that kid, but I realize that :D

I enjoyed the young guys playing alot. Thought it sounded pretty cool and was reasonably tastefully done. Yeah, not Robben ............ but still.

He is better than I'll ever hope to be.

Robben seemed very gracious to him and I admire that.

I'm not trying to crap on the kid, yes he played well. as I implied, better than I can... just was painfully obvious how much better robben is.... that's all... didn't mean to sound too malicious.

I honestly dont understand the comments on the "kid". He's a mighty fine player and because this is a amp forum: I can still hear the sonic chararteristics of Robben's Dumble.

In the absence of the context of the rest of the music that the guitar part was accompanying, I don't think that a proper appraisal of the musicality of what was being played is realistic, for me at least?

Not to comment on anyone guitar's skills (light-years above my own ones) but the playing out of the musical context, that is amusing.

French say: "blague de potache", something like kid's joke ...

Even basic, humour is good for health ...

For the third time, I am not trying to say "this guy is a horrible player".

I repeat for the third time, he's a way better player than I am

I repeat for the third time, he's no Robben Ford, and the disparity of their playing was very evident to me.

That is also 100% opinion, man :)

I thought the funny part was the kids facial expressions.

If you say so. I never heard, or heard of, him before seeing this video.

“Angel From Montgomery.” Three chords and the truth (OK, four). Not exactly Frank Zappa territory.

:) to be fair to Daniel he is a country player and I think this shows the big difference in a what it takes to play over a track like Angel from Montgomery well and it's 100% feel over technique.

here's Daniel doing his thing for those who don't know of him. He also has the Don Kelly gig which every guitar player in Nashville want's... his predecessors are Brent Mason, Johnny Hilland , JD Simo ;)

and imo that other kid was way more passionate and a better player... Danie,l definitely showing off his skill on the fretboard on this one, he's lightning fast. I just 'felt' the other kids paying more, if that makes sense... there was more emotion in his fingerstyle, instead of rapid precision. But I tend to go more for that style. I prefer B.B. King to Steve Vai any day. :) Again, this is 100% about opinion.

I think the kid sounded great playing through Robben's rig. Actually not a fan of the country playing he was doing in the video. The master, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2Ufi3C1cy8
