howdy...Andy Le Blanc.... 38..married ..house dad.... I care for my 10 year old son (brain injury) and an 8 year daughter....I live down the road from Skowhegan Maine....my first amp was twenty years back.... it was a cobbled together box of bits made with half a clue, but it worked.....I've made amps out of everything, mixing bowls... car doors.... street signs.... of late I've been like'in paraphase inverters and exploring the path least expence...as I've noticed that there wasn't much in most of the older consumer audio products...
self taught and a musician, one a very few avid hobbyists and tube repair guys in the area....

I'm 48, Wife and 2 teen-aged daughters (yes, God has a sense of humour).

We live in Keller, TX, about 15 miles north of Fort Worth. I'm a Sales Director in the Aerospace / Avionics industry. Lots of travel. BSEE by education, but not practicing (except on amps).

I've been playing since I was 12, but have had numerous breaks over the years as life's events have unfolded. I have been messing with electronics since I was a kid- always the guy in the band who fixed cords and actually understood how the PA system worked...

For whatever reason, I only got into amps about 5 years ago when a friend was talking about building a Vibrobverb clone out of a Bandmaster Reverb. I started thinking about it, and had an epiphany- Hey, I can do that too!!

I soon realized that my degree wasn't really going to help too much- I missed the tube era by a decade, and was taught mostly Digital stuff. So I had me some learnin' to do it seems... And I still am.

Another friend sent me a link to Glen's demo of the Express and... well it was like hearing an amp for the first time. So I did some research on the gearpage and found this forum. The gearpage was such a flame-a-thon I had to find something less egocentric...

This bunch here is the most helpful I've seen and the wealth of information here is hard to beat- a great mix of technical and practical. And not condescending either, which is nice!

Cover band on hiatus after watching the local music scene go down the crapper the past few years...maybe startup again early summer with a keyboard player so we can do cool 80's stuff (Cars, Numan, Devo, etc.)

thanks! actually norway isn't that cold. fernie, b.c., canada was colder than the norwegian west cost. we have the gulf stream to warm up our coastline

That's right Norway is about where it begins to sink and return south. I read something lately about it slowing significantly over the last 50 years. Something about changes in salinity with the ice pack melting. Losing that current would be a bummer

thanks! the prostitutes are recording again now. the old recordings was not very good - it was done very quickly in our rehearsal room without good mixs etc. the new recordings will have much better drums (better playing and better sound) amongst other things. and we have some new songs.

20bones has been my monday project the last year. we have not uploaded our new songs (and the remixed and remastered old ones yet)

perhaps I should build a rocket for the prostitutes? Now I use a 6g6b and a blackface amp.
20 bones uses plexies, an express. and I gonna record a new song with my comet 60. the new song is perfect for the big, aggressive comet sound

Bill here - I'm brand new to the forum. 42, and on sabbatical now in the interior of Alaska. I have built one amp (at Bruce Egnater's seminar, so there was no heavy lifting!). I'm interested in building more, and just generally increasing my tube amp knowledge.

BTW, it was -30F this morning at my house. We could use the Gulf Stream here!
