Dynaco a451, if you can find one. Close enough when frequency spec is adjusted to 70Hz-15KHz.

Which manufacturer built this, and did you get the all dressed up fully potted version?

Very cool, Tony! Thanks for the catalog. Fun to see all the specs (and the low prices
)
Re: Dumbleland Anyone?
The Dumblelands did not use a DC coupled CF driver ala the SSS amps. Rather, it used the driver section taken from the Winterland/Odyssey amps (AC coupled, similar to a McIntosh power amp). I'd swap out the #002 driver section for the Winterland/Odyssey driver section, tweaked to taste. That will get you closer to historically accurate Dumbleland specs. Now, whether you'll prefer the sound to #002, that's a different story. Many don't.

Thanks! Yes I am familiar with AC coupled Driver I actually put one in the ODS I built for Zac Brown in this video (4:00)jfs322 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 12:33 amThe Dumblelands did not use a DC coupled CF driver ala the SSS amps. If you don't mind me asking how you know this? have you ever seen one in person or have seen pictures or have a ser#..I ask because the one here #009 sounds an awful lot like an DC coupled one

BTW.Other amps that use DC Coupled are Super Twin and Peavey Roadmaster IIRC
Thanks!

Re: Dumbleland Anyone?
Can I join the fun? I already created the chassis and silkscreen artwork! The only problem is my "educational license" has expired so I can't personally update the drawings beyond what is already done. Attaching some pics (note, Dumble's name was only used to make sure the alignment was correct) Anyone got a contact at a sheet metal shop for a few of them for us? The 3D files are in AutoDesk Inventor *.IPT files

Re: Dumbleland Anyone?
I am friends with some of the guys at Two-Rock, and was fortunate to have them build me a Dumbleland style amp based on the Dumbleland they had on their bench many many years ago. Not sure which serial number they had, though. Might have been #009? Not sure. But yeah, the driver circuit on the Dumbleland style amp they built is nearly identical to layouts/schematics I've seen on these forums for the Winterland amps (or Odyssey, I get the two mixed up as to which of the two has the 12BH7 driver circuit). The values are slightly different -- that's why I said tweak to taste -- but the overall AC coupled driver topology appears to be the same.talbany wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 12:45 amThanks! EDIT: Just checked, it's the Odyssey amp I'm referring to. Basically, the PI/driver board topology of the Dumbleland style clone that TR built for me is nearly identical in toplogy (values different though) to that shown here: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... it=odyssey
Re: Dumbleland Anyone?
Thats great and thanks for the clarification!..Here is the Winterland #003 pretty much the only shots after a Winterland search. The Winterland closely resembles the Williamson /Split load..
The Odyssey is LTP (common cathode) and driver
They both appear to have similar driver set ups accept for the .22 couplers on the Winterland vs the .1 for the Odyssey which is more than likely set up for guitar and that Winterland for bass..I assume?
(The give away is the common cathode on V1 and V2 of the Odyssey.. The Winterland has no shared cathode on V2..If they were similar both V2 and V3 of the Winterland would be shared like the Odyssey. Both are AC driven.

Re: Dumbleland Anyone?
So Judging by this quote from H.A.D Max gave us he if he is talking about the output section (which I think he is) he is talking about the DC driver being too silky clean which is a good way to describe the DC Driver. The AC one being not as silky leads to believe he went with the D.C coupled..The question now is ? Is it Ultralinear? like the Winterland in the shots I posted.Max wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 1:52 am"... Re: Dumbleland Anyone?
Just to avoid misunderstandings:
AFAIR the individual amps from the "series of amplifiers" (A. Dumble) with DL written on their front or - sometimes - only on their back (e.g. "DL-150VG") are all different: different tonestacks, different feedback circuits (preamp), different filter circuits (or no filters at all), at least one with an overdrive circuit, at least one with a tremolo circuit, with reverb (e.g. price list May 15, 1978: Dumbleland Special 150W with reverb $1,760.00), without reverb (e.g. price list May 15, 1978: Dumbleland Special 150W without reverb $1,410.00), different power amp circuits, different power supplies, different transformers, different chassis dimensions (e.g. long chassis with all tubes in one row, shorter but deeper chassis with all tubes in two rows), different layouts etc.. And because of all these different circuit specs, layout specs, transformer specs, etc. ... , they all sound more or less different, even though you can read DL on all their chassis.
Cheers,
Max
