How about grounding with the shielding?

I'm planning a build using tag/terminal boards and their bolting to the chassis already provide many ground points, so :

- would it be OK to use the shield of the input wire to ground the - isolated - input jack?

This way I wouldn't have to add another ground point, as I already have somewhat too many.

I guess that it should be OK but I'm rather feeling stupid asking now & rather safe than sorry latter, plus I did some search but didn't found anything about it...

No. This is good advice if you're using the shield as a SHIELD, to avoid creating a ground loop.

But in this case, OP is using it as a ground wire, where the end connected to the NON GROUNDED input jack is not grounded to the chassis already. So yes, it should be connected at both ends.
