Fender reverb driver source?

Post by sonicmojo »

I ordered a Fender reverb driver (022921, 037099 style) from Amplified Parts in October and it is still on backorder as it is with many other online stores. I see some price gouging going on due to the shortage presumably caused by Classictone going away. Does anybody have a source that sells replacements that work for reasonable prices? I need several of these for repairs and builds but can't stomach paying $37++ to get one. I hope somebody fills this gap.

Thanks!

Options expand (as well as tone) if you're willing to consider push pull drive.

What does that look like? Self split, cathodyne? Example?

Yep. Kinda like this. I think I used 22k on a Hammond 125 for the primary. Overkill but that's what was on hand. You can use a very small transformer as the D.C. current is nulled. Sounds more 3D.

Hello,
I am currently designing a preamp with reverb and vibrato that uses circuits that were not intended for guitar but sound great. The reverb section is a clone of the Motorola Vibrasonic which used a very unusual reverb tank that is nearly impossible to find at a reasonable cost. I decided to use a Belton long decay tank and for the driver I'm using a 70v line matching transformer. My initial bench test confirmed it works well. The driver amp uses a 12L6GT single ended and one triode of a 12SN7GT. The primary is the 1.25W tap and the secondary the 8 ohm tap fed into the reverb tank. 70V line matching transformer provide a number of taps than may be able to used for your project. What primary is required for your circuit?
