I seem to have run into this before on a Rocket build. The PT heater wire is quite stout compared to the very small eyelet hole in the octal sockets. Once the wire is twisted very tight and then tinned it is quite difficult/impossible to thread into the eyelet. How do you deal with this issue? Would you split the wire into two equal strands, tin them and then thread through the upper and lower eyelet? Has anyone used needle file to enlarge one of the holes? Whats the standard technique here. Sorry if this is so basic.

Yes, I was going to say, make the hole a little bigger. It isn't much. Just be careful not to flex the pin unnecessarily to avoid breakage. The other way to handle this is to install a 2 lug terminal strip to use as a relay point for changing to slightly smaller wire. If the chassis floor is crowded, you can mount a small strip like this to the side wall.
