Seeking recommendations for building a mic preamp

Post by professormudd »

Greetings,

I would like to build a basic (simple) tube preamp for use in recording. I would like to avoid going the route of a kit. If anyone would be willing to point me in the direction of some layouts for mic preamps that would be fantastic. I found it pretty easy to locate caches of guitar amp layouts, but not so much for mic preamps.

I would also appreciate any general wisdom you may have to share on the subject of tube preamps for microphones.

Thanks in advance. Merry Christmas Eve.

I think this is a good place to start:

https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/tubes-valves/

Also I've found a few cool projects of tube mic preamps that you can build from a well documented place here:

http://www.gyraf.dk/gy_pd/g9/g9pd.htm

They even provide a full parts list etc.

They also have a few other tube based products you can DIY here:
http://www.gyraf.dk/diy/

I've thought about making them, but never gotten around to them.

They also point to
http://www.groupdiy.org/
as a place with forums that talk about people's DIY builds of these tube preamps.
