Lazy man seeking for vox AC4HW1 layout

Post by Kagliostro »

Looking around I've find this page with good inside images of an AC4HW1

https://www.tdpri.com/threads/goodbye-r ... ng.639441/

it will be possible to spent some time to draw a copy of the layout with components values and connections

but before it will be better to ask if someone has one ready to read of those layouts

Many Thanks

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you more not able to read a schematic then being lazy and just beating around the Bush?

These are not high gain amps and with only 3 gain stages not counting Tremolo if it has it then the layout should not in any way be too critical!

You might want to go to Akin amp site for tons of great build and layout info.

Kagliostro has been a member of both this forum since 2009 and the hoffman forums for an extremely long period of time they're not some new comer that's just asking people to do work for them. He just said he can create a layout himself but before he started wants someone to let him know if he's repeating efforts.

I also don't think he'd have problems with the schematic, from what I know of Franco.

Thanks for the link to the pictures. Do you have the schematic?

OK

If I opened this thread a way it can be misunderstand I can confirm what pompeiisneaks say

I'm not asking to draw a layout for me, only asking if someone has under hands the layout of that amp

About the schematic, yes, I've a copy, here it is

p.s.: If someone is interested on the original VOX AC4 layout (early and late models), I can share

Thx for posting the schematic. That was just to make sure you had it.

It was too lazy to post it, supposing that you already had it & did not even remember that I posted it myself on the EL34World forum: https://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=26018.0

I know Franco since a long time and I'm moderator of an italian forum together with him.
I agree 100% with Phil.

Sure, many of us know K for both his knowledge and his dedication to the community of tube amp builders... 8)

Afterwards, I realised I should have written "Do you need the schematic?", of course.

I started collecting informations on the small SE line of Vox amps, including the Pathfinder V1 so I'll be definitely interested - especially in the earlier version of the layout.

EDIT: found (late AC4 layout)
VoxAC4_layout.jpg
in my hard drive. Not sure about the connection of the inputs to ground, NB.

Many many (many...) thanks for the big image!

I wasn't aware of this early schematic but it seems - from the pics - that there was an even earlier layout. That was claimed to be around 1960
chassis-60-#2104.jpg
prior to using that ground bus.

I think I'll create a new thread on the subject. I definitely need to know where the inputs connect to ground on the layout you posted... :?

Not sure but seems the connection is via the body of the volume pot

look to this images (Vox AC4 1962)

I've look also to other images and also if the thing is less clear than in this previous images, it seems that the ground connection via the pot body is confirmed

Oh yes, (many) thanks (again)!

I suspected that, of course, because I had no clear pictures as you shown, but have some pictures where it is routed to the ground bus...
(which I unfortunately did)

It looks like I'll be happy to test a few options to reduce the hum, those days... 8)
