I've just picked up a Hammond chassis to build a dumbleator. Normally I'd cut a vinyl stencil to use as a mask to either brush or spray the markings on, but the powder coat on this chassis is so rough that it's impossible to get crisp lines. The edges of the mask won't adhere down into the little valleys and the lacquer bleeds under.
How do you get pro looking markings on something like this?

Maybe spray on a flatter overcoat?

I knew I shouldn't have sold that Tree 425.

Great idea. I just flattened this one. I'll experiment a little tomorrow to see if what I have wants to stick to this powder coat now that it's flat.
