Sunn 190

Post by Stevem »

Hi all!
I have a 1973 Sunn 190l that limped its way up on my work bench that has no reverb pan.

It uses a 12AU7 transformer driven pan .

Anyone know if it uses a 8 ohm input pan like the common Fender one, I am inclined to think so?

Looking at this schematic found on fender's site:

https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... Schematics

If it's the 190L Sentura II Scepter Solarus 100S (that's one huge ass name)

Then that schematic shows for me on the second page, that the primary impedance of the reverb transformer is 10kZ and secondary is 3.5Z so a 4 ohm reverb pan seems to fit the bill? BUT they also seem to have a 10k parallel resistor around that primary side, not sure how that might impact it, or if it does?

The original tank is a Gibbs type 4F but the Accutronics 4AB3C1A (horizontal/open side up) works well. You can use the standard Fender 4AB3C1B (horizontal/open side down) but the springs may sag and rattle. Notice the tank is tube/transformer driven but recovery is a transistor.

Phil, it's not one name. That schematic covers five amps... same electronics but different speaker configurations.

i used this in the sceptre that came without a reverb tank and it worked a peach

Reverb Tank - Accutronics, 4AB3C1A, Long Decay, 2-Spring https://reverb.com/item/27734607-reverb ... t=27734607
