Audible OT vibration/buzz
I'm using an OT from a Peavey Valveking 100. Lately I've been running the amp through an attenuator, and with the amp wide open and the attenuator at the lowest setting (about 24dB down) I realize I can actually hear what I'm playing directly off of the OT, just like listening close to a turntable pickup. It's gotta be vibration in the core or the windings. Is this normal and/or safe?
Re: Audible OT vibration/buzz
Yes, normal. We can also sometimes hear sound coming from the valves when the speaker is radically attenuated.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com
Re: Audible OT vibration/buzz
Okay thanks. Might as well be the output tubes then, as they sit right next to the OT.

Yes, that fully normal!
