D-Lite 44 Transformer Connections

Post by professormudd »

Greetings,

I reckon I will be asking a lot of questions in the near future.

The D-Lite kit I purchased recently came with a set of ClassicTone transformers. the PT is a 40-18029.

The layout that I have refers to a power transformer of unspecified model, so I can't lookup the specs to compare.

I want to make sure I hook this up correctly, so I am going to verify my thinking with you all and hopefully if I made an error someone can help me.
  • Connected the brown/white and black/white wires together, connected to the switch where the white lead is indicated.
  • Connected the black and brown wires together, connected to the switch where the black lead is indicated.
  • Connected the yellow wires to the point where the yellow wires are indicated.
  • Connected the red wires to the point where the red wires are indicated.
  • Connected the red/green to the point where the purple/yellow is indicated.
  • Connected the green wires to the fil.
  • Connected the orange wire to its own ground.
  • Connected the red/yellow wire and the green/yellow to ground.
  • Insulated and tucked away the red/white wires.

Yes, I looked at the spec for the ClassicTone 40-18029, and I agree with your work. However, keep those red/white HT taps handy--if your B+ is too high, you'll want to use those instead of the red pair.

Where did you get a D-lite 44 kit from?

I didn't know they were available again...

It was on Reverb. Someone had done a little work on it then never completed it.

Thanks! I consider this good news.

Follow-up question.

I believe this amp is to run 4 6V6 power tubes and 4 12ax7.

Is this correct?

Thanks for those....

If the original OT had taps for 4k and 8k, but my current OT (ClassicTone 40-18001) has only 4.2k.

So, could I run 4 6V6s OR 2 6L6s - Is this correct?
