Preamp PCBs?

Post by xtian »

Considering replacing the guts of that dead rack preamp with a new guitar preamp.

For example, Grainger offers a nice looking JCM 800 PCB: https://grangeramp.com/product/jmp-2203 ... d-green-2/

What else should I consider? The iron is good for five preamp tubes!

And maybe I'll add a Class D power amp, so it will be a full amp head.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

This guy is a member here and has a few pcb's offered. Think he has a jcm800 style with more options for jose mods and what not as well but mostly high gain stuff.

Another option that I suggest is making a big pot of coffee and sitdown and learn KiCad and make the PCB yourself. Once you get the hang of the program its really not that hard at all to get started.

Go for the Diezel VH4 preamp board all the way!
The other 2 companies also have great products. Always better to have choices. London power makes some very cool VVRs .
This looks like a cool 2 channel preamp kit.

At sloclone we have:
  • the old good slo-like pcb
  • a four stager two channel amp pcb
  • shortly an improved slo amp pcb
  • some users propose Diezel VH4 and some diode dystopia amps pcb
Of course you can use preamp part only.

I've built a few of the LP-pre's and like it a lot. Clean channel is Fender and Lead is JCM800ish. JFET Shunt switching.

He has a Dumble preamp called the "Mini Marshmallow" - I've been thinking about trying that one as well.

It would be nice to switch this thread into a general thread for preamp/amp pcb.
It could be useful for all users who wants to approach DIY without building their own pcbs.

Get 5 of mine made from PCBway for ~$25 and you can make pretty much any preamp (minus switching etc). https://github.com/tristancollins/amps/ ... tar-Preamp

Or, fire up KiCad and use them as a starter to make what you want.
