Hi all, & hope all's well.. Here's a pic of the back panel of my Bell & Howell 12643, aka model 138, & the associated schematic (in 2 parts), & not wanting to remove that jack, can anywhere help me make heads or tails of it?
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.
Kenny

It is a 6 pin cable that connects between the amp an a 'speaker case'

Based on the schematic, it looks like a remote switching system for the 'speaker' which likely had it's own amp and power supply. You can ignore the jack and circuit because it's not physically connected to anything internal -- but -- there may be a relay contact somewhere that needs to be bypassed for the preamp to turn on.

Thanks MHUSS, So there is hope for this project w/o the original case w/speaker & tranny?
Again, kindly detail exactly what I need to do in order to get this into a stand alone amp,, then i can pass it off to my tech to do said work.
Thanks all & be well~~

Re: Help With Cinch? Speaker Jack on Old Amp
Hi again,,,I have a tech, a rather experienced old chap who has been able to circumvent any amp issues I bring him, but I just wanted to get a better understanding of what I'm bringing him, and so I can add any appropriate jacks on my own. Yes, he's an amp guy, but not a musician, as much as I'm not a tech, & the more info I have about what I'm dropping off, the better I can present it. From the git-go, assuming there is an electronic fix to this not having the original speaker/cabinet, would it be appropriate for me to 'prep' this amp w/a 1/4" speaker out, in anticipation?
Thanks so much!!

is the output transformer in this chassis or elsewhere?
i prefer to rip out everything that's not being used as it can make it less confusing
yes i would imagine having a 1/4"jack so that you can plug it into a speaker cabinet would be rather beneficial

Well, here's the bottom side of the power tranny, & I'm not quite sure what that thing below it is, but there's wires going in & out, & it's fastened down pretty well?
Yes, in a previous B&H refurb, much of the guts related to the projector was removed, but some still remain.
Thnx

most/all of that stuff should be removed. gut the thing and build a guitar amp in there. i find it exponentially easier to start with a bare chassis and only put things needed than trying to repurpose stuff that might be extraneous anyway
