Thought On These Microphones for Home Recording

Post by zozoe »

Hi all,,, Okay,,,I've found several great mics under $300
Any thoughts on these for the soundhole on 12 string, single mixing a 6 string, & possibly some vox?
RODE NT2-A & (RM2 clip)
AUDIO TECHNICA AT2050
CAD M179
CAD E300S

Again, many thanks.

they're all large diaphragm condensers so will all do pretty good job for what you want.

I've had a pair of the CAD 179's and they both broke after a couple of years I've not been able to fix them unfortunately.

Also stay away from the sound hole when micing acoustic guitars  with a single mic you're better off pointing it at the point the neck joins the body.

for acoustic guitar i like a small diaphragm condenser pointed at the 12th fret but large diaphragm would work
I've been using something similar to the akg p420 for a number of years on vocals and dig it (unsure of exact model and don't feel like going to the room to look)
