Is this a HRM amp?
I'm not sure it's a bluesmaster or not. I really dig that sound. Great playin' too.

Is the owner of that amp on the forum?

This is the exact same amp in that video clip. It is back in California now and heading to NAMM. 2X6L6, Bluesmaster HRM. My clips are with mega PAB on.

Yep, that's one of ours. :D

Funny thing is, I haven't seen it or had a chance to play it since the LA Amp Show!!! Maybe after NAMM I'll get to spend some time with it.

As Scott said, the amp is based on a Dumble Bluesmaster circuit. Cleans are a lot more Fender-like and the OD has a brassy quality to it. Moss and I have since built a few other variations of the circuit so it will be interesting to see how they compare with the original.

Thanks for the replies.
Great tone Scott! I'm a strat player and was never completely satisfied with the OD on mine. I heard that youtube clip and instantly knew I had to shoot for that particular circuit.

I know what the Bluesmaster PI is, but I'm still in the dark regarding the pre-amp section.
Any chance you're willing to share what's in the pre-amp section of this amp, Normster? I really dig these sounds.

Hi Norm,
I still don't feel we've got a consensus opinion on the preamp values in the BM... I settled on the "Sunnyland" values for the latest version of the schematic, with obvious corrections for matching plate resistors to cathode resistors (they seemed to be all flipped between triodes)... But, AFAIK I think I'm the only one using them.
I put the controversial post-OD, pre-HRM coupling capacitor into my build with a switch to short it out. I also have a 1uF bypass cap on CL2 which seems to give me plenty of bass and I don't feel the need to go higher there.
I've heard Scott talk about more traditional HRM preamp plate & cathode resistors in his testing.
I'd like to hear more people chime in with what they've actually built...

Thanks Normster!
Looks like I've got to convert my amp to a HRM....

One more question... Are those first tones (0.07-0.12) the clean channel with PAB on or the OD channel?

Check out the clips of Chuck D'Aloia playing a Fender Esprit. I really like the tone with that guitar too.
If someone likes your experimental music then it isn't experimental enough.
