Power strip inducing buzz

Post by angelodp »

I am finding that with a typical power strip, if I plug my amp into the socket closest to the switch that has a light in it, I get buzz/hum. I move the amp plug to the next socket and its clean. I suppose that little flori or led light in that red switch is causing the hum. Anyone also find that?

I think the little light is still usually neon? Maybe mine are all old... I would guess your power strip has a loose connection in the first slot. Power strips are usually solid core wire pushed into a copper groove for each socket. Easy to get loose or corroded.
