Hi all, Is there signs of trouble by looking at this shot?
I do not yet own the amp.
Thanks

No

but that's just a superficial view of some of the externals of the transformer. What you see there is some of the enamel coating of the transformer that 'dribbled' after it was built.

Otherwise I see nothing else wrong with it. Of course, most of the time when a transformer dies, you can't see what's wrong with it... it is interior on the windings where most failures happen.

Thanks PHIL, I thought so, but it's just more stuff I've never needed to know, but thanks to you guys, I'm still alive!! I'm looking at some small PA chassis to try my hand at modifying to guitar status, but outside of discharging caps, replacing a cap/resistor, & checking a fuse, there's so much stuff to know. I can read a schematic & follow the signal flow, but subbing values to increase gain, push power section , etc., is a mystery. Well, I guess I'm in the right place, huh?
