I would guess the PT in the polytone was just big enough to power the original amp’s rated output power. I really wouldn’t expect much more output power from the new power amp. You could always put it on a dummy load and see what it can do. If I am not mistaken polytone uses mostly 4-Ohm speakers.

Class-D is considerably more efficient than AB so I would expect a hefty increase in output power. Maybe closer to VA rating of the PT. I suppose that as long as nothing gets excessively hot, you don't crank up the amp for long periods of time, or use it as a bass amp it should run fine, though.

Ordered that same amp module via Ebay just now on the advice of Aaron and on behalf my friend, whose amp has been taking up space in a closet for the past five years. It is a Brute so anticipate it'll be slightly different. Should be late August or even September given postal service these days. Will share success, and any eventual blame, back to the forum once the retrofit is attempted.
