Two Conductor Shielded Wire?

It would be really simple and convenient to run one wire of this cable to an effects loop send and then run the other wire in the same cable back from the return. One wire going to and one wire coming back, carrying basically the same audio signal. Is this not a good idea? Will some frequencies get cancelled out? Can it hurt the tone? Thanks

Sounds fine. Twist together the foil and the sheild wire and ground them at one end only for best shielding.

I'm guessing what you are thinking of is common mode rejection in a balanced cable run. Ideally, the only cancellation of frequencies in that scenario would be noise and it only happens after the two conductors are unbalanced and recombined. Headphones often carry the same, or similar, signals through the same cable with one shield without any problems.
