Strange output wave form

Post by Stevem »

Hi all!
Yesterday I got around to rebuilding my 1971 Oliver B200 head ( 2 channel duel 7027 amp) and once I got it on my scope and drove it with a 1K tone it produced his cap at the top and both of the wave just before clipping, about 55 watts.
Anyone ever see this occurrence before?

I was just about to go back up stream to see if it was happening in the PI section when my darn scope went south, so today I am fixing that!

Thanks in advance!

That may be indicative of instability, parasitic oscillation, ie oscillation that is parasitic to a regular signal, as it requires particular, signal dependant conditions, to manifest.

I had an amp that did something very similar right at the point of clipping:

The fix for my amp was increasing the value of the fizz cap (cap between PI plates).
