Gradual Express volume pot

Post by DaveWell »

Hi !

My Express built volume are not gradual volume, at 1 it's already loud but clean to overdrive at is goes to 11 :)
What can I do to get there and not loose TONE.

is this PPIMV will do the trick without TONS sucking ?

I'm not just sure about connect the shilded wire ground to the lug that go to the lug of the BIAS (10uf cap/15k and 47K lug )
Why not just go direct ti ground near the pot ?

Thanks ALL !

PPIMV will work, but the tone won't be the same am afraid, unless you account for the loss of NFB. Also I think you might lose the Clean to Mean action with the guitar volume if you fit a PPIMV, I've not heard of anyone doing this to their Express amps and haven't properly tried it myself. Hopefully someone that has will chime in.

I personally use an attenuator with mine and it works great. There is a layout for the Airbrake attenuator in the Trainwreck section. I build a modified version of this and use it with all of my amps. It still affects the tone, but not as much in my opinion.

This looks like the same part but maybe slightly different/new?
https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Oh ... 8t1G4Dw%3D

its still 100W 25 Ohm, but has a KE at the end now?

The dual pot pin 3 is connected to a negative DC voltage source to elevate negative voltage above any AC voltage to eliminate any noise in the PPIMV.

All the coaxial shields are connected to pin 3 to the bias circuit.
