can capacitor cover lifts off a bit - OK?

Hello,

While installing the two F&T 32/32 can caps the covers lifted off the base about an 1/8" or so. They didn't come off, they just lifted a bit while in the clamps.

I wanted to check with some of you to see if they would not have been damaged. As far as I know the cover isn't critical to the inner capacitors function electrically or mechanically. Just wan't to be sure since I just started wiring up the power supply last night. The base with the 3 terminals appear to be fine.

A photo would be good. But generally speaking should be ok if it's what I'm thinking.

Thanks guys, I don't have a way to thoroughly test it at home. I could bring it into work and put each inner cap on the LCR meter, that would tell me everything I needed to know.

Its an F & T 32uF/32uF 500V, pretty blue dual can cap I ordered from Amplified parts. It has 3 terminals being 2 caps with a common cathode. I'm 90% sure that Its 2 discreet caps and the cover is not directly connected to anything mechanically or electrically connected to the caps but, having never been inside one or seen pictures of the inner anatomy of these particular caps, I figured I'd just check in with someone who might know more specifically about these.

A meter pinout at least showed there were no shorts between terminals but, a digital meter wouldn't tell me if there was an open. I'm pretty sure I'm good but, if theres anything more I can know, that would be valuable.

I'm almost ready for sleep but will try for a photo tomorrow.

They are the AL-Elko blue dual section radial clamping
F & T caps.

For what it’s worth, I have had an unused one of those same cap cans sitting in my parts box for years. There is a definite gap between the blue cover and the black base with the terminals. Probably more like 1/16” than 1/8. You can look in the gap and see the silver crimp, then empty space between the top of the crimp and the underside of the blue cover.

There is no gap on the other end.
