EU resistor mafia :D

Post by norburybrook »

After our discussions about resistors recently and the formation of the USA resistor mafia, I thought it only pertinent the there should be a European family.

So with that in mind here's a great place to buy a whole range of very esoteric resistors including the Original HOLCO's

they also do the widest range of capacitors I've ever seen too including hand made ones etc so if anyone wants to throw a few different types in their amp and report back there's no excuse now.

with descriptions like this about the TAKMAN metal films:

Takman REY metal film resistor for audio equipment has the features that it consists of resistor thin film made mainly of Ni-Cr-Al materials, brass caps and non-oxygen copper wire. High-precision is realized with laser trimming and high stability and high sound quality are achieved with most proper coating. This resistor is usable for any audio components.
During development, TAKMAN recognised how sound is influenced by the various structures and materials used in manufacture. Magnetism, inductance, electrification caused by contact resistance and vibration make the sound flat and coloured. Ultimately you will hear an edgy brightness at the highs but overall a lack of accuracy and detail. To remove these incidental noises TAKMAN developed their first audio grade resistor, the MAESTRO, the predecessor to the REX (carbon film) and the REY (metal film). With outstanding specifications, TAKMAN, by making the best of their know-how and sophisticated technology of a resistor-specialized manufacturer have created the best resistor for your audio equipment or circuits seeking for unlimited high-quality sound.

it's the place to be :D

You are right, pedaling audiophoole components is a form of organized crime. IMO, of course! ;^)

I second that motion, Don Tony. Also, Marcus, any plans for renaming the chapter after January 31st, 2020? :D Or will you be "grandfathered" in? The latter would be quite fitting, considering the nature of the organization(s).

The west coast branch of the resistor mafia is branching into other illicit areas like ceramic discs. My findings on Sprague Cera-Mite ceramic discs coming soon. :D

Some years ago, I had to build few hi-fi amps and looked all over the place for "hi-fi" community "approved" components, stumbled upon Hi Fi Collective - great choice, known brands with the HiFi gang, guys seem to love what they do - always important!

Didn't have the time to look over - got distracted by the then little baby daughter.

Forgot.

Then received news on Duelund capacitors being on sale -> ~200 Brittish pounds for a 1uF/630V (that is ~250 USD), then I had to live with that for a long time :)

But to each its own, I guess.
