I’m not opening it but is it spam or something? What is the deal? It’s been posted like 4 times.

We're under attack by automated bots. Waiting for Phil to come to the rescue.

Phil said he switched to Captcha authentication from the Q&A previously used for registration. Seems like it ought to be changed back.

Something needs to happen pretty quickly, otherwise the site is headed for being another all-spam site. Many sites never recover from a few days of all spam.

Anyone know how to get the moderator(s) attention to this?

It's getting worse by the minute! I hope it doesn't sink the site. Damn you spambots and their controllers!

why not blocking new subscriptions for a month at least?
The only way to sort out all this bullshit is just give access manually at new users, after having answered correctly to a series of tech questions.

I was out for a few days, getting back to cleaning, I think I'll change the challenge back to soemthing new, they figured out the old one, but the recaptcha is useless.

Welcome, sorry, I should have checked back on things after I switched to using recaptcha to block spammers lol. Live and learn. The old way was having one or two a day leaking in, but I can regularly come up with new weird questions that need an intelligent answer and see if I can keep the spammers at bay. If not I may have to make some changes to new accounts etc.

nah it's no worries, if there's ever another admin they'll likely love the history :D

Yeah basically I'll never make a major change like that and then go on a full day drive away from the internet a few days later. Saturday I was getting ready for the return trip home, sunday was an all day drive from Utah to WA. Didn't see the collateral damage until monday morning. I think I may have missed reading anything on friday as well, but don't recall at this point. Basically a facepalm moment :)

I hate Captcha, it's used as an algorithm to program AI. You are the data input monkey to help the AI learn, that's why it's always pictures of other vehicles, traffic signs, lights, store fronts, crosswalks. Helping AI learn to drive through annoying backdoor time wasting.

This version of captcha was recaptcha and had the checkbox that said "I'm not a robot"
